ISL Research Focuses

ISL members and students have mainly focused their research in the following three aspects:

  • Foundational research in computational intelligence. Research in this aspect includes system dynamics modeling, belief revision and update, logical foundation of negotiation, answer set programming, nonmonotonic logics, epistemic reasoning, and computational properties of knowledge systems.

  • Applied research of using AI logic and computational techniques to solve problems in intelligent agents, software development, information security and databases. Research in this aspect includes model update for system modifications, logic based information security in multi-agent environments, e-business automation, and XML databases.

ISL members Dr Yun Bai, Dr Dongmo Zhang and Prof Yan Zhang and their students and post-doc fellows are undertaking research in the above two aspects.

  • Image processing. This is another focus of ISL research which is mainly conducted by ISL member Dr Zhuhan Jing and his PhD student. ISL believes that there is a great potential to apply our research outcomes of image processing to health. Currently some external collaborations in this direction are being explored.
